On Wednesday, June 26, Google presented another Google Maps feature for Indian users of the application. The Google Maps Stay feature is designed to increase the safety of people traveling by taxi or rickshaw by helping them navigate their route.
The "Stay safer" feature of Google ensures that taxi and rickshaw users monitor your car when traveling with another vehicle. He also shares the real state of his trips with family and friends, helping them to track their trips.
"With our extensive research in India, we have discovered that many people limit their mobility due to security issues, and to solve this, we are launching another innovative feature in India that will provide our users with a more relevant experience." Using the Stay safer feature of Google Maps is extremely simple. All you have to do is go through these simple steps:
- Install the latest version of Google Maps on your smartphone.
- Find your destination and touch the Route option.
- Now press the Stay safer option.
- In the menu bar that opens, touch the Share live travel option and select the contact with which you want to share your live location.
- Touch Receive off-route warning options to find out if your driver is off the route.
Google indicates that if your taxi or auto driver leaves more than 0.5 km away from the route suggested by Google Maps, the phone will issue a notification that will notify users of the change. Then, users can touch the notification to see where they are in relation to the original route. Then, they can share the details of the live cartoons directly with their friends and family along the way.
In particular, the feature is only available in the Android application of Google Maps and there is no notification of when the company will implement this function in their IOS application.
